The Florence bus station is right next to the train station so you should already be familiar with the location. Bring Euros as the ticket agent did not accept credit cards on the day we purchased tickets. The bus station is also near the Mercato Centrale (Central Market) an amazing place to visit and dine. Therefore, it may be a good idea to go the day before and familiarize yourself with the bus station, and the schedule for Superstrada/Rapida buses from Florence to Siena. Since the buses ran every thirty minutes, we decided not to purchase our tickets in advance.
On the morning of our day trip to Siena, we enjoyed an Italian breakfast of Cappuccinos and Croissants at the Mercato Centrale before walking to the bus station. Within minutes of arrival, we purchased our Superstrada/Rapida bus tickets to Siena and shortly thereafter boarded the comfortable bus.
The bus ride from Florence to Siena offered gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside. Two hours later we arrived in Siena, just a short walk to the famous Campo. Visiting Siena was a beautiful way to spend the day, and also to enjoy the outstanding wines of Tuscany! Ciao, ciao!
