My family adores this French Toast recipe. The bread browns perfectly, there are lots of wonderful crevices to capture the syrup and butter, and it cooks in three minutes!
- Two Large Eggs
- 1/3 Cup Milk
- 1/3 Cup Half and Half
- 1/4 Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
- Bread of Choice – We prefer Challah Bread cut into 3/4-inch slices
Step One – Begin by preparing your waffle iron as normal. Some irons require a non-stick spray, while others do not.
Step Two – Whisk all ingredients together, except the bread, and pour half of the mixture into a shallow casserole dish.
Step Three – Turn the waffle iron on to just under the highest setting. (If your waffle iron has setting numbers one through six, use number five.)
Step Four – Place the bread into the egg mixture, turning it several times to coat.
Step Five – When the waffle iron is ready, place a single layer of the coated bread slices on the bottom plate. Close firmly, and set a timer for three minutes. Do not go by the green and red lights. Your Waffle French Toast should be perfect after three minutes.
Step Six – Continue dunking bread slices, using additional mixture when necessary. Remember to ignore the waffle iron lights. Simply add bread slices and cook for three minutes each time.
Let me know what you think!
