After deciding to use all-natural deodorant, I tried at least ten. None of them worked, so I made my own! It took several attempts to find the perfect blend:
Homemade Deodorant Recipe:
- 1/8 cup Organic Baking Soda
- 1/4 cup Organic Corn Starch
- 4 tablespoons Organic Coconut Oil
- 4 drops Organic Tea Tree Essential Oil
- 4 drops Organic Lavender Essential Oil
Combine all ingredients in a large, glass bowl or measuring cup. It is best to mix the baking soda, corn starch and coconut oil first, and then add the oils at the end. Be careful to blend extremely well so there are no lumps. After the ingredients are mixed, I find it helps to use the back of a spoon to smooth the mixture against the side. This technique reduces any additional lumps.
When finished, I place a heaping tablespoon of the deodorant into one ounce plastic cups. These plastic cups with lids are easy to find online. You can also purchase them at several restaurant supply stores such as Smart and Final.
Store your extra deodorant cups in the refrigerator as the product will melt. The deodorant cup you are presently using can be stored in your bathroom. If it melts, just shake and apply. It will still work the same.
It is best to make certain your underarms are completely dry before applying your deodorant. Apply an amount approximately the size of a pea.
Organic baking soda can be difficult to find. If you are unable to locate this product, purchase the most natural baking soda available. I purchase most of my essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs.
